This property is a one of a kind modernized rustic barn.

A large living room with wood burning fireplace & great natural lighting, dining table seats 10, plus 6 counter seats. Butler kitchen includes its own dishwasher & large side by side refrigerator/freezer. A beverage/bar station offers a wine & beer fridge stocked with glassware. The main cooking area overlooks the family room and has a large refrigerator, double ovens, gas stove with griddle, coffee maker, microwave, & toaster oven. Large screen TV's w/ vcr and dvd players. Lower Level has a family room with a gas fireplace and large sitting area. A children's art corner will keep the little ones busy.

This rental sleeps 12 people with 2 rooms on second floor and a lower level with 3 rooms.

An additional apartment may be added to sleep 6 more. (please inquire for pricing)

Near Hartman's creek state park, standing rock county park, the chain of lakes, Foxfire Golf, Snowmobile Trails, etc.

Pets are welcomed for a small fee.

Thanksgiving stay

Another great stay!
We have stayed here several times in the past, and it continues to be a wonderful place to gather large groups. There were 12 of us and we fit comfortably and enjoyed the wide open spaces, the decorations and the amenities.

Great place for a group meeting
We had a group meeting at The Barn and it was perfect. We had space to conduct meetings but also space to share cooking and eating (and evening activities). Plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms.

Family Holiday Gathering 2024
The Red Barn was the perfect place for our family holiday gathering. Plenty of room in every regard, fully stocked kitchen and the oversized refrigerators and freezer were ideal for us! All the beds were comfortable and wonderful sized bathrooms. The snowstorm was an added bonus for us to play our reindeer games but we definitely would like to experience the red barn in the summer too! Huge Thanks to Paige and Jamie for all their assistance in our minor matters and the snow plow guy for clearing out the lot for parking!!

The barn is great. It's flexible and beautiful. Enough beds, enough room, enough bathrooms, etc. It's really great. The only thing I would warn about are the oven racks, they don't quite fit.

Women’s weekend
Very welcoming. Beautifully decorated. Interesting seeing the basic structure of the barn. Comfortable beds, chairs and sofas. Layout of rooms welcoming for all to meet, socialize. Kitchens useful for several people at a time. We try to have a women s weekend every year. This was an extremely popular place with all of us.

Fantastic weekend reunion
We were able to get our entire family together to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We had our three children with their spouses and our 11 grandchildren from Friday night to Tuesday morning. We loved the country setting and the spacious facility. Went to WI Dells for a day at a water park and to Hartman Creek State Park for a day hiking. Wonderful Big Red Barn was our home away from home and it was GREAT!! With 7 bedrooms, 5 baths, a great deck, wonderful fenced backyard, fire pit - - we could not have asked for more!! Wonderful condition and cleanliness - we loved it!! Thanks to VRBO and Mike H. for this fantastic weekend for the Nyberg family.

Overall really enjoyed our stay but I would update/make a comment on a few items. 1. The ovens do not heat up accurately (oven thermometer registered 20-25 degrees lower). Please consider replacing. 2. While the grill worked, you may want to update/clean it prior to each visit. 3. Update what beds are in each room on the website as I believe they slightly differ from the answer you gave me in a prior email. 4. The oven grates are not sized appropriately for the ovens - they actually are a bit short and therefore risk of tipping/falling to the bottoms. Please consider replacing these as well.

60th Birthday Bash
I would recommend this property. The property manager/owner, Mike was communicative and friendly. Beautiful place! Accommodated our large group perfectly ! Great location in that Hartman Creek State Park is moments away. Cleanliness score is 3-4/5 because of the kitchen. It's been used heavily. Rack in second kitchen oven didn't fit and there was no replacement, leaving us to place dishes directly on oven floor to bake while the 2nd oven was in use. Bring your own sharp knives for cooking, the ones available are broken and VERY dull. Large group was allowed only one roll of paper towels. Garbage bags and dishwasher soap pods also appeared to be rationed. Second coffee maker broken. Pots and pans heavily used and not that clean. Address on website is incorrect, correct one being County Rd D, NOT Hwy D ; these locations are about 10 min apart from one another.

Most unique and beautiful house we've ever rented!
Extraordinarily, unique, beautiful barn remodel! Visible, rustic structure, large living area w/natural light, dining for 20+, well-equipped kitchen (but no large stockpot). From previous reviews, oven rack issue is fixed & new coffee maker is fine. All bedrooms are up or down; I worried about our youngest (1) or oldest (85) taking a spill on the thick hardwood stairs, but with solid railings & posts, no one did. Master suite is remodeled hay loft open to the living area; master bath has double sinks and separate tub/shower, beautiful & rustic but not private. You’re last asleep if others are in the living area, & first awake (natural light). Large back deck had seating for ~15; chair cushions were worn but comfortable, and the grass was sparse & parched. Downstairs are three BR’s & a full bath, a den & laundry with 2 W/D’s, and an attached apartment w/two more bedrooms. All beds were very comfortable and linens/towels very clean. AC for the main living & upstairs master wasn’t working properly, and the weather was ~90 so it got VERY warm inside. The owner I reserved with had sold the house and referred me to Jamie with the new corporate owner. When the AC couldn’t be repaired quickly, she got an equitable credit quickly refunded. Also, the key locks should be replaced with electronic deadbolts for easier access & better security. This home is a unique, rustic place to hang out! Be sure to confirm that the AC is fixed, and get a contact you can reach by cell if needed.

Hot as blazes! (& not in a good way)
We stayed here last year and had an amazing time so when it was time to pick a vacation place this year it was unanimous to go back to "the moose house" Unfortunately the temperatures outside was 90 and the temperature in the house was 85. Clearly it was a miserable nights sleep. We were so uncomfortable. I messaged the owner who didn't respond but the man who lives next door was sent over to look at it. Most of us left for the day and my FIL said 3 more people came to look at the AC. Not a single word was said to us about what was going on. We came home to again, 90 outside and 85 inside the house. I sent another message to the owner, Michael Holmgren, with again no response from him. On the 3rd day of 90 degree temps outside and 85 inside, I messaged Mike again and got a short message back basically saying, "yea, you said it was hot, the AC guys said it was fixed." I asked for at the very least some fans be brought over. A different neighbor came by and was talking about how the previous week's guest set the thermostat so low that it froze the coils and they couldn't fix it but they came back Friday and felt it was good to go. (We had some relatives come by who work in HVAC and they said there were 2 units that were not working and that the size of the units is not big enough or efficient enough for the space they are trying to cool and every time the temp climbs these 2 units are going to continue to struggle and breakdown.) It ruined our vacation.

This is the second time we've stayed at the "Moose House" with our group of 9, 65+ year olds. The spacious, open kitchen, dining and living space is perfect for us. The Waupaca area provides a variety of activities for us as well.

Girls Get Her Way Weekend
