If you’re looking to escape the rat race and chill for a few nights, this is the place for you! A loving restoration of a former school teacher’s house has resulted in Coldburn, a traditional stone built cottage within the Northumberland Dark Sky Park, where wild goats and deer roam and peregrine, red grouse, ring ouzel, buzzards, ravens and kestrels soar. You may even spot red squirrel if you’re lucky!
This hidden gem is in the very special College Valley and sleeps 4 people in two bedrooms, one of four properties which are let as holiday homes. Living accommodation is on the ground floor with an open fire in the sitting room, TV DVD, CD radio and iPod dock. The farmhouse style kitchen is well fitted with a much sought after range cooker, pine table and chairs, dishwasher, washing machine and usual appliances. Upstairs there are two cottage style bedrooms both beautifully furnished and a bathroom with Victorian roll top bath.
The cottage has an enclosed garden - perfect for dogs and children. There’s storage for bikes too, this is an excellent spot for cycling, the College Valley is a private estate - just 10 cars are able to buy permits to use the private road system each day so traffic is unlikely to be a problem. The cottages sit on the foot of the Cheviot Massif in the National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. • Sleeps : 4 • Bedrooms : 2 • Beds : 1 x double bed and twin beds • Bed linen and towels : Duvets, linen and towels are cotton and synthetic duvets and pillows are available on request. • Bathrooms : 1 bathroom with bath and overhead shower. • Accessibility : Accommodation is over 2 floors. • Kitchen and utilities : Solid wood fittings, farmhouse table, dual fuel gas range, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. • Facilities for families : Travel cot and highchair available on request.
