My family and I (wife, 3 children) are in the middle of a year long global travelling adventure, and chose to spend 3 weeks at Chalet Bergheim. Our goals were simple: to ski as much as humanly possible, and to feel at home after being on the road for so long. Well, mission accomplished! The gods were surely looking down upon us as it started dumping snow as we pulled into the Zermatt train station. Our entry into the Chalet was seamless, with a heli- drop for our crazy amount of luggage, and in the comfort of a warm home on our first night, we looked out the living room window to the Matterhorn. Pictures can’t really capture the beauty of it all, but this chalet is certainly as advertised. It truly is a ski-in-ski-out scenario, and apart from daily groceries (which you can have pre-stocked), you are more or less self-sufficient.
The kids loved skiing down the piste to the chalet at the end of each day, throwing their ski boots on the warmers in the mud-room, sitting in the hot tub, and watching movies on the living room TV late into the night. The kitchen was well equipped for my wife and I to cook breakfast and most dinners...not too much else to say except this place was a gem for us. One last thing, the owner Will was about as responsive and helpful as it gets. Hope this review helps you and you enjoy too!
Also, for your rental needs, I would recommend Bayard at the bottom of Sunnegga (you can store overnight in case you’re not the ski-in-out type), COOP for groceries, and Summit ski school for some of the friendliest staff and best instructors around ;-)
