Cotopaxi National Park

This is one of the most popular getaways from Quito. We start at 8:00 a.m. from your hotel in Quito, and then we'll travel south along the avenue of the volcanoes. At 9:30 a.m. you will admire the beauty of Cotopaxi Volcano (5.897 m - 19,347 ft), and you´ll be surrounded by amazing pristine forests, mountains, lagoons, wild horses and ecosystems that change as you go higher on the road! You will see also the exotic wildlife while we walk around the Limpiopungo Lake (3.800 m - 12,467 ft)! Then you will have the amazing challenge to drive uphill way towards the car park located at 4.500 metres above sea level (14,763 ft), in order to walk up to the refuge "José Rivas", located at an altitude of 4.800 metres (15,748 ft)!

In the afternoon we go towards Baños de Agua Santa (1.800 m), located at the foothills of Tungurahua Volcano (5.000 m) which has been in eruption since 1999! We will stay the overnight at a charming hotel. There we will have time to do a city tour and later on to enjoy its lovely nightlife!

We leave at 08h30, towards the avenue of the waterfalls. On the way we are able to admire the hydroelectric dam and many waterfalls such as: “Gate to Heaven”

After lunch, we descend to the eastern flanks of the Andes to the city of Puyo, located at 800 metres above sea level. There we will experience weather change and Amazon vegetation! We will go to Yanacocha Animal Rescue Centre, where we can see important Amazon fauna species of the region such as monkeys, parrots, macaws, alligators, charapas, peccaries and turtles in their natural environment!
