What you can expect

Day 1: HCM City – Cai Be – Vinh Long – Can Tho (-/L/-)

An air-conditioned bus will take you from HCM City to the town of Cai Be. Here you’ll get on a boat to sail through the Mekong Delta in a small group. On the way, you’ll visit a very popular floating market where traders sell their fresh fruit and vegetables from their boats. It’s a really colourful and memorable experience.

Next, you’ll continue on in smaller boats through a maze of small and broad shadow-filled canals. Along the way, you’ll get a glimpse of the daily life on the Mekong. Set sail through villages and past hardworking farmers in the many rice paddies that line the Mekong Delta. You’ll arrive at one of the many An Binh islands (Vinh Long) in the Mekong Delta.

After lunch, you’ll go sight-seeing across the island on foot or by bike, visiting several family businesses that cultivate Vietnam’s most important exports – rice. In the afternoon, you’ll sail for approximately 3 hours until you reach Can Tho just as the sun will begin to set. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as low water levels, this part of the trip will be conducted by minibus. You’ll spend the night in a comfortable, modern hotel in the centre of Can Tho.

Day 2: Can Tho – Cai Rang – Chau Doc (B/L/-)

Morning, you’ll continue with a visit to Cai Rang floating market in the Mekong Delta. In order to get close to all of the activity of the market, you’ll hop on to a small boat and sail between the floating stalls. The market is full of small boats darting through the water as vendors sell their wares.

During the next part of your trip, you’ll travel overland to Chau Doc. Many people make a living from catching fish here, with personal fish farms under their floating houses. You’ll take a small boat to these farms and may even get the chance to feed the fish. Make sure you stand back thought or you will be sure to get wet!

Near the border with Cambodia, you’ll find a Cham village, where you’ll find descendants of the ancient Champa kingdom, which was once located in Central Vietnam. After this, you’ll get back to Chau Doc by boat, arrive around sunset. Spend the night in a hotel near the centre of town.

Day 3 : Chau Doc – Phnom Penh (B/L/-)

Time to leave Chau Doc by speedboat into Cambodia. Once you reach the Cambodian border, tour ends.
