Overview

The Venezia-Verona Amarone tour combines the deeply-rooted culinary culture of this famous wine region with its treasured art and history. The tour is a mix of unforgettable monuments such as Verona and the unique character of Valpolicella wines, lead by the superb Amarone.

The Amarone-Valpolicella tour offers the opportunity to visit vineyards Northwest of Verona in the Classic Valpolicella wine region. The very special nature of the soil and the presence of indigenous grape varieties make Valpolicella Classico, Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso, Amarone and Recioto among the most revered red wines in the world. The wine tasting includes a light lunch of typical cheese and salami.

The day concludes with a walking tour of Verona’s historic gems: Piazza Bra (home of the famous Arena di Verona with its magic performing arts), Castelvecchio Bridge, Juliet's House, Piazza dei Signori and Piazza delle Erbe.

Our guide was excellent - professional and very informative. He told us about the regions of Italy which we were driving through. He guided us around the highlights of Verona again keeping us well informed. And finally, he was very knowledgeable about the wines we were tasting and the foods they would best accompany. We thoroughly enjoyed the day from start to finish.

Riccardo was an amazing host and tour guide. Tour Part 1: Incredible knowledge of Verona and the amazing history of the city and its citizens. Venice is nice to visit, but so much more enjoyable when combined with tour to Verona. Tour Part 2: Wine country tour experience was more inclusive than multiple visits to Napa Valley. History of growing process, origin of grapes and historical perspective of Amarone wine. Our wine country visit culminated with a walk in Gamba’s Vineyard and thru the barrel and aging process and to a sampling and food paring experience. 1st class treatment by our host and his arranged tour highlights. Highly recommend this experience.

The private walking tour with Ricardo was very enjoyable. His knowledge of the history of the city is extensive. The tour and tasting of the Vini Gamba was awesome. The wines were great and paired well with the food. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful day visiting Verona and Gamba winery with Riccardo! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Riccardo who was very knowledgeable in both wines (he is a sommelier!) and history of the region. We can’t wait to return and do the Prosecco tour next time!

Riccardo was an excellent guide. He took us to all the main sites of Verona, allowing time for photographs and telling us the history - he is extremely knowledgeable. He also took photographs of us and e-mailed them on to us. Our visit to Gamba winery was superb. The tour, food, wine was fantastic. I would recommend this tour to everyone - particularly with Riccardo as host!
