TOURING THE ACROPOLIS AND PARTHENON Our starts with the Acropolis, focus of life in Ancient Athens & surrounded by its amazing Cyclopedian wall built by the Myceneans thousands of years ago. The Acropolis is home to the Parthenon, & many other amazing monuments including the giant entrance 'Propylaia' you will enter through, behind which stood a huge gold encrusted statue of the Goddess Athena which must have struck awe into any ancient visitor. Once inside your expert guide will show you & explain all of the other monuments including the 420 BC Temple of Athena Nike, Mythical Erechtheion, as well as the other structures including the Theatre of Dionysis. Constructed in the 6th Century BC and the worlds oldest Theatre, it would have seen the very fist performances of ancient plays by Sophocles, Euripides, and Aeschylus among others. Finally you will tour the PARTHENON, widely considered as a masterpiece of science, engineering culture, and the pinnacle of the Greek Classical Period.

Explore the New Acropolis Museum situated adjacent to the Acropolis which houses the many masterpieces from the site. If you prefer you can continue without entering also.
