The XIX century was the moment for Barcelona to become an international city through industrialisation, and urban and social changes that will challenge its population to an evolution into a “modern way of life”.

Bohemians were an educated and normally poor and also artistic class that resisted “that” evolution because they thought it was a gate to lose humanity, sensibility, and delicacy; they walked, so, against the tide. They lived as they could all over the city, but during the evening concentrated in the Paral.lel Av. and Raval areas.
