Activity itinerary

Khe Sanh Combat Base
  • 45m
  • Admission ticket included
The Seige started on January 21, 1968, when the north Vietnamese shelled the base with more than one thousand mortar rounds, rockets, ang heavy artillery.
Vinh Moc Tunnel
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
The tunnels were built in three levels (12, 15 and 23 metres deep) and took thirteen months to complete. Three hundred people lived intermittently in the tunnels during 1966 to 1971. Sixty-two families made the tunnels their home and amazingly seventeen babies were born here and spent the first years of their lives underground. Visiting other places on the highway 1 and 9 to Vinh Moc and Khe Sanh: Long Hung Church: This church in Quang Tri, Vietnam fell victim to 8 continuous days of bombings by South Vietnamese and American troops during the Vietnam War. The church has remained untouched and basically remains as it was immediately after the bombings occurred.which was a battlefield in 1972 between North and South Vietnam for 81 days and nights. Doc Mieu Base: There's basically nothing left of this old American base save a rusting tank and a sign. Apparently this once formed the backbone of the "eagle eyes of america" electronic monitoring fence. Ben Hai River – Hien Luong Bridge of DMZ: Vietnam's Demilitarised Zone, or DMZ, is the area around the former border between North and South Vietnam. Cua Tung Beach: The beach has sparkling green water, silky sand, and it is touched by soft breezes throughout the year. Having a rest and take some beautiful photos from here. Rockpile: The Hill was a Marine outpost built on top of a huge outcropping. Though it’s inaccessible, it’s a prominent sight from the highway. Dakrong Bridge & Ho Chi Minh Road: It is midway along Highway 9, and is the starting point of Highway 15, one of the main branches of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which leads south to the A Shau valley.
Hien Luong
  • 30m
DMZ Vietnam is the area around the former border between North and South Vietnam. Historically it was a narrow band of terrain extending from Laos to the coast, five km on either side of the Ben Hai River, roughly on the 17th parallel..

Really interesting tour out to Khe Sanh and the Vinh Moc tunnels. We particularly enjoyed the tunnels as it really gave us a feel for the living conditions inside (particularly the maternity ward).

I highly recommend this tour if you are interested in the American/Vietnam War. Our guide, Ms Thach, was very knowledgeable, and our driver, Mr. Trang, was great. We visited a few sites that were still standing from the war, toured Khe Sanh base, walked through an ethnic minority village, got a view of the rockpile, and walked through the Vinh Moc Tunnels. We walked over the bridge at the DMZ and toured some museums. It was a full day and very educational!

Impressive Tour! We saw and learned a lot about the Vietnamese history between 1946 and 1975. To see the places first hand and talk to people that experienced the war gives a whole new quality to otherwise abstract knowledge. highly recommended with a small caveat: the tour is long and it is lots of driving - for us it took about 10 hours but was totally worth time and costs.

Sam (our driver) and Hai (our Khe Sanh guide) were wonderful. I wish that we would have had Sam for our first day in Vietnam because we learned so much about the history and current culture of Vietnam. Sam was a safe and cautious driver and the vehicle was very comfortable. Be sure to ask for Sam And Hai for your tour of the DMZ and Khe Sanh.

Absolutely the best day. The driver was professional and cheerful. The guide we picked up was brimming with knowledge and interesting anecdotes. The places visited were away from the crowds , with the tunnels an absolute highlight! Highly recommend and so glad I paid extra for the private tour.

My guide Hai was excellent, although not born during the war she was able to relate real life experiences for her family and herself in the aftermath. Her range of knowledge was awesome and her ability to bring the facts of the war to life without taking sides was amazing. The driver Tran(?) was friendly and capable. The English spoken by both good. Take this tour.
