A wonderful few hours spent at Merrick’s surf school! It was my first time surfing & something that was on my bucket list of things to try whilst visiting Australia. Oakie (sorry if mis-spelt!), could sense I was a little apprehensive & looked after me so well, giving lots of encouragement & had heaps of patience! Thanks so much for making it all such a great experience :-) Would highly recommend Merricks to anyone wanting to try surfing.

Provided with everything and really nice staff. We were in a group of 4 and I think with anymore people it would have been very crowded - not sure if they would give you two instructors. The issue was is that I was very bad at surfing (not the company’s fault). I understand that I can’t be given more attention than the other people in the group but I was floating in a different part of the sea trying to get to the group for at least 10 minutes, and no one came to help me. I found it very difficult to battle the waves and could have done with a little assistance or just advice before I went in on how to do it as I had never surfed before. Ended up with me getting quite badly hit in the face by the board and really struggling. I sat out on the second half of the lesson. Lovely staff and a nice surf school I just think there could have been a little more assistance when I was struggling so much.

Definitely recommended, so much fun! We did a group lesson, two of us has had a few surf lessons before, and one who had never surfed or even boggie boarded. Our instructor Anthony was so great and accommodated all our needs to get us up and standing! The 2 hours went so quick! We were a bit worried about the cold as it was June and a pretty windy and chilly day but he supplied us all with wet suits and we were fine! Thank you so much for our experience, we were so hyped and are still talking about, we wish we had another day or two for a few more lessons :)
