This tour will take us, together with a local accompanist, to discover the real Padua. We will take a walk around the city to discover the most important sights and monuments. We will see Prato della Valle, the largest square in the city of Padua and among the largest in Europe, which with its 78 statues is an album of the important characters of Padua. The Basilica of Sant’Antonio or “Il Santo”, a destination for millions of pilgrims each year and a romantic mix of styles and cultures from all corners of the world. Along the cobblestone streets we will reach the medieval heart of the historic centre. We will see the ancient Ghetto of the city that with its narrow streets has become a meeting place for young students. Then the Squares, Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza della Frutta with the views of the Palazzo della Ragione and often enlivened by the stalls of the Market and the swarming of people under the “Salone”. We will reach Piazza dei Signori, a meeting place for Paduans at the aperitif and once the home of the Lords of the city. Palazzo Bo, headquarters of the University of Padua, founded in 1222, which has always attracted students from all over the world. We will conclude the tour in the most typical of manners: we will stop for a coffee in the historic “Caffè Pedrocchi”.
