Bangla Road is a beachside avenue that comes alive at night with neon lights, a street market and lively clubs. It is recognizable by its iconic Patong Beach sign. Listen to the big tunes and disco anthems, as you stroll down this busy street after sunset.
Enter some of the large clubs, whose open-plan façades offer a glimpse into their genre and ambiance. Live music spots and nightclubs stand beside the go-go bar strip clubs. Gaze up at the imaginative logos and designs that jump out from the frontages in an attempt to lure revelers. These include large tigers, peppers and beer emblems among many others.
You’ll soon discover the other aspects the street is known for: ping pong shows, pole dancers and lady boys. Take care not to be pulled in by aggressive vendors who may charge more than initially agreed for drinks and entertainment.
As you explore look up at the red lanterns that grace the street and generate an oriental vibe. Pick up fast food items at one of the chain restaurants adorning the flanks of the avenue. Kebabs, seafood and traditional Thai cuisine are among the specialties. Purchase inexpensive beer and party until the early hours of the morning.
During the day, find street food stands and cafés dotted along the road. Relax on the beach and enhance your tan in advance of the evening revelries.
Bangla Road is in the heart of the Patong Beach area in the vast bay carved into the western coast of Phuket. The road runs perpendicular to the stretch of sand. Visit some of the nearby sights, including the Banana Walk Shopping Mall, Loma Park and the Patong Mosque.
