"Best experience in a hotel. Large public bath, large room overlooking a beautiful garden, kind and helpful staff. Chose the dinner and breakfast option, which was fantastic. Many art pieces decorate the hotel corridors, and it feels like you are transported to the past. A small tea ceremony in the lobby in the morning. This ryokan is worth the extra distance. I wish I could have stayed more than two nights!"

It's only a few blocks from Nijo-jo Castle (make reservations online, to see inside). There's a 7-11 across the street, and if you want to stock up your room with groceries, there's a Life store a few blocks away. They have EXCELLENT sushi and other prepared foods, at very low prices. "

"Had a great stay here for 3 nights with 2 adults, 2 kids. The room was comfortable, immaculate, well equipped. My only complaint about the room would be the fridge temperature - it turned everything to ice by the morning. Great for bottles of water to take out for the day, not so much for left over snacks. We did not use the spa area although the option was available. The breakfast choices were amazing, and they managed the volume of people well. An 8 minute walk from the station, bus stop...

"The hotel is really nice and very conveniently located in walking distance to Nishiki market and walkable to some neighborhoods that are all nice and cute. The hotel rooms are small though, but if you just want to use the rooms to sleep at night it's ok. We stayed in a room with a 5 year old sleeping on the floor.
