"It was amazing seeing all the different birds from their restaurant patio. I saw way more kinds of birds including two tucans from here than from the actual birds watching tours. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Nice city view too. "

"Very pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and size of the room...looks to have been recently renovated. A delightful hotel in a great area of downtown close to all the shopping. But most of all the service was amazing...all the staff was very friendly and helpful with whatever our needs were. Definitely will be staying here again when we are up this way."

"This hotel was wonderful; the tour guides were particularly knowledgeable and also great with kids! We enjoyed the restaurant and especially the views from the rooms (we had 3, and all were incredible). It is a bit of a walk through the cloud forest to the rooms, but there is help for luggage, and it's exactly the kind of walk you come to Costa Rica to take! Thank you Dantica! "

"Room was comfortable. No view from room. Pretty area with gardens around walkways. Not a lot of outside seating areas. Most rooms are a walk uphill a ways. Not many have close parking. Trails uphill behind resort. 4x4 drive to upper parking was in good shape and looked good enough for 2 wheel when dry. Dining was fine, with good service. "This was my second visit one of the best hotels in the Savegre Valley for birders. The accommodations are excellent (including heating in the rooms & hot showers!), with the mountain-view villas being especially good for birders. A major bonus is a wonderful bird-feeding area attracting lots of hummingbirds & frugivores. "We LOVED Villas Rios Mar on the same level with Banana Azul at Puerto Viejo! We stayed at 5 places in Costa Rica and they were our favorites. The grounds were beautiful. The room AND deck space/setting were wonderful! The only things that were a bit of an issue were the safe never worked for us (poor instructions/key use etc), the closet doors were jammed and unuseful, and we were the farthest room from the front desk/restaurant and had trouble with the WIFI. "Tami lodge is located in a beautiful place far from civilization. We stayed in a glamping tent style that has a lovely shower and two comfortable beds. It was slightly cool at night which I loved because it made it easy to sleep. We needed to cancel the second night because we rescheduled our flight and we got our money back, no questions asked. I highly recommend this place. "

"This is a wonderful and clean boutique hotel. The last mile and a half drive to the property is a narrow, winding and steep road, but the drive is well worth it. The view from the rooms is spectacular looking out onto the ocean and amazing sunsets. The staff made our stay. The waiters were very friendly and gave us information about the area and wildlife. "The smallness of this hotel allowed us to always have a comfy seat at the pool without having to get up early to reserve chairs. If we left for a couple hours in the afternoon, we didn’t feel the need to reserve anything. There was always a place for us when we came back. The breakfast was delicious and included! The drinks were amazing and the lunch and poolside snacks were also delicious. We were close enough to enough restaurants where we could have walked but we enjoyed having a car and were close to lots of delicious foods and excursions!"

Si Como No Resort, Spa and Wildlife Refuge

Great place, great views, great cocktails

"We stayed here for just 3 nights at the end of our trip to CR and could have definitely stayed longer. Service was fabulous both in reception and restaurants always someone to greet you with a smile and nothing is too much trouble… thankfully even helping you with many bags up many steps was no trouble. Room was a good size nicely laid out with aircon and a massive bathroom. Food in the restaurant was a little pricey but really enjoyable and breakfast was great with a small buffet and a menu to order off too which we loved. Cocktails were also amazing we loved it if we were back in time for happy hour while the kids played in the pool. The pool was lovely well maintained and the small slide was a massive hit. It’s not the biggest family pool where as the adult pool looked bigger which is a shame but didn’t affect my families enjoyment. They also run a small programme of activities which I thought was great even if we didn’t get to enjoy them. Beautiful grounds in a good location with a few restaurants and a couple of shops in walking distance. The espadilla (?) beach is as only a few minutes down the road but don’t attempt walking back up like we did…. It’s steep! We also got an Uber cheaply to the MA park and to Quepos. Only very slight negatives it wasn’t the easiest to get an Uber it’s only if they were passing and the shuttle bus could benefit from having one more time each way and a few more parasols around the pool would have been fab. But overall fantastic "

"We stayed in room #7 and it was a steep climb up the stairs, but the views made it worth it. Rooms were basic with 2 beds, sitting chair, mini fridge, and bathroom. No TV but did not want one with so much to do. WiFi worked great. Breakfast was included and was perfect. Pool was very nice. Restaurant had good menu options and the staff was super nice. Beach chairs and umbrellas provided too. "
