"The hotel is celebrating its 100 anniversary this year and if you like historical sites, you will enjoy your stay. The breakfast is also included in your stay and it was good, also. Right on the beach too! We will stay there again. My only negative was that our room was right over the courtyard that had a wedding celebration. I doubt other rooms could hear the crowd as well as we did. "

"I stayed here for 9 days after Hurricane Milton knocked out the power at my home. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the place. It is a little bit old and the facilities reflect that, but everything works and seems to be well maintained. Pets are welcome with a small deposit. Laundry facilities are pretty good. The room was comfortable and -very- clean. The support staff in the front office were very nice and helpful and the cleaning staff was superb. Next hurricane, I'm heading directly to this place again. The surrounding area has lots of pleasant surprises - within a 15-20 min drive there are a number of excellent restaurants with varied cuisines. Highly suggest driving 5 min north to Mayport and taking the ferry across the river (an adventure in itself, especially if you have kids), then drive up to the Timucuan Trail on Big Talbot Island. Park at the Sawpit Boat Ramp and then cross the road to the bird watching stations. Some of the best bird watching on the East Coast. I was at the ramp one night after a late bike ride and saw the October '24 comet!!! "
